The metal Glider

When we moved into this house, the previous owners left his glider on the front porch.   So here it sat for almost 4 years, untouched, until now.

I finally got around to painting it.  The yellow is a bit bright, but the weather will dull it down I am sure.  Though Cliff seems to think it looks like a school bus.  I think a black eyed susan!  Maybe it will get painted again!  A 50's pastel color maybe?  What do you think?

Yard Work

So this past week both my parents came down to help me clean up the yard.  This involved 5 trips to the dump, chopping up wood, trimming trees, building a new window box for my art shed.  I planted sedum in the box that was there, and the weight of the dirt and plants were causing it to fall off of the building. And I can't forget the pruning, my mom pruned like a mad woman! So here are some photos from out yard work.

The back corner of our yard, this is our junk pile which held the old fence and our kindling pile.  This  was actually taken after our first dump trip, so it looked worse.

And here it is all cleaned up, with wood chopped and kindling cut into smaller pieces.  Winter we are ready!

This is the window box my dad built, I will paint it next spring when the wood has been weathered!

This is our other red shed, and the door really bothered me!!!
So we bought a reddish brown and painted the door and re painted the trim.

One of 5 loads off to the dump!!!!

We finally removed the old fence that was between us and the church next door!

 My mom pruning!

My dad putting together our new tree/branch trimmer, a mini chainsaw on a long stick!  My dad originally bought it for their house, but when he put it together he realized he would not be able to fit it back into his car, so it is ours now! And believe me it will be used!

  More pruning.

And at the end of the day where did we go the relax and cool down with some ice cream?? DQ of course!

The Window opens!

This is our kitchen window, and well for 4 years we never knew it opened!  And during the summer any time we cook, it gets really hot in there.  We have an air conditioner, but we were never able to get any fresh air. Thanks to a bird that flew into the woodstove it took us this long to learn that the window opens.  Hooray for the fresh air , it is wonderful!
